Blog 1- Maps!

Claim Implication of the claim Boston schools introduced the Galls-Peter projection map. The Mercator map, commonly used distorted the reality and did not offer accurate representation of the continents. A world renowned cartographer named, Gerardus Mercator, produced a map in 1569. He created it in a way that helped sea travelers navigate across oceans by drawing straight lines as guidance. This exaggerated certain countries, making it look bigger than its original size while on the other hand, made larger countries smaller in visual size. He had also misplaced countries. Mercator’s map affected continents as well as countries.  South America was roughly about the same size as Europe when in reality it is approximately twice as larger.
